Medical and School Contact FormsWhen children start school parents are asked to complete forms requesting a range of medical and contact information. In the interests of your child's welfare it is vital that you keep us informed about any medical conditions, changes of address or telephone number and details of where a parent can be contacted during the day. The school will only keep and administer medicine to a child in the case of chronic conditions, such as asthma, where the parent has filled in the relevant forms (available on request from the school office). AbsencesPlease see the page 'Day Procedures' for details. Any parent wishing their child to have leave from school for an annual holiday will need to complete a holiday form, available from the school office. Illnesses and AccidentsIf a child has an accident at school any necessary first aid will be carried out by one of our many staff first-aid certificate holders. Whenever a child receives a significant injury, full details are recorded in the accident book and parents are informed. If it is felt that the child should receive further medical attention then the parents will be contacted immediately. If a child becomes ill during the school day we will contact the parents so that s/he can be taken home. Car parkingAs in all schools there is very little space for parking. We ask parents not to bring their cars into school grounds at the beginning and end of the school day. Instead please use the parking area by the church. Parents are encouraged to wait for their children at the end of school sessions within the school gates to avoid congestion and the risk of accidents on the highway outside the gates. Play equipmentThe adventure playground is for use during playtime under supervision. The play equipment should not be used at any other time. Parents are therefore responsible for the safety of their own children if the equipment is used before or after school. The school cannot accept responsibility. School Health NurseEvery school has a School Health Nurse working for the School Health Service. If your child has a problem that is likely to affect his/her schooling the school nurse is there to help. She is also there to help if you have any other concerns about your child's health or development at any time while your child is attending school. In the first year of school your child will have a vision test. Vision tests will be repeated later on in your child's school life, including colour vision testing of boys. These are part of the school routine and parents are not contacted prior to them taking place. The school nurse may contact parents individually after these tests if necessary. He/she may also occasionally be weighed or measured, undressed as for P.E. If you have any concerns about any of these procedures, please do discuss these with the school nurse. She can be contacted via the school. HeadliceThese can be a nuisance! The most effective way of dealing with them is to comb through your child's hair, after conditioning, each night with a nit comb. Further details are available from the school office and the school nurse. FootstepsWe run a Road Safety training scheme to help to educate our Key Stage 1 children in the importance of road safety. Parent volunteers are always welcomed to help out with this extremely valuable activity. Cycling ProficiencyAll year 5 and 6 children are given the opportunity to complete the cycling proficiency course run by Oxfordshire LEA. There is no charge for this, and as with footsteps we are always looking for parent volunteers. |
